The MACS research group carries out scientific coordination and forecasting activities as part of a network with its affiliates and member teams. The activities specific to the GdR, which are specified below, are coordinated with the activities of the learned society SAGIP and in particular its technical committees.
Coordination by the MACS steering committee
The activities listed below are the responsibility of members of the GoR steering committee. A second manager, Gülgün Alpan, is in charge of the operational follow-up of these activities. Operations include a monthly meeting (by videoconference) of the steering committee and thematic meetings to monitor activities when necessary.
- Support for young researchers :
- multi-annual supervision of the organisation of the MACS theme school ;
- follow-up of doctoral student mobility within the MACS network;
- organisation of the annual recruitment support day;
- identifying new permanent staff who have joined the MACS teams, with the aim of providing them with personalised support to ensure that they are integrated into the MACS network as soon as possible.
- Best thesis Award: activity in cooperation with the Club EEA and SAGIP
- annual update of the rules;
- receipt of applications ;
- constitution of the jury and organisation of its meetings;
- exchanges with the nominees and winners.
- Communication and website :
- Data and software:
- inventory and mapping of software production by member teams;
- reflections and exchanges on best practice in terms of code production in connection with projects or publications, software maturation, distribution methods, etc.
- Publications in open access :
- to run the HAL collection of the GdR, which at this stage brings together the theses and HdR supported by MACS affiliates;
- to promote practices in favour of open science (including the archiving of publications on HAL);
- to support the setting up of an open access journal for the SAGIP-MACS community, for example as part of the episciences initiative.
- Europe :
- to bring together our community's knowledge of European projects;
- through the CNRS to be able to propose themes for future calls for projects.
- The person in charge of this activity is the INS2I's European correspondent for the GdR.
- Companies :
- encourage interaction between members of the GdR and companies;
- disseminate information about MACS activities;
- respond to requests from companies;
- offer dedicated seminars.
- Organisation of MACS seminars :
- monitoring and coordinating seminars organised by the R&D Group, which may be initiated by the Scientific Advisory Board, requests from other GdR or companies.
MACS' scientific outlook
The steering committee includes a group of people in charge of the GdR's scientific outlook. This group is coordinated by a second manager, Romain Postoyan. The people in charge of foresight are also members of the MACS Scientific Advisory Board, which includes other members from the MACS and SAGIP scientific communities, as well as from related scientific communities. The roles of these members in charge of foresight are specified below.
- Within the Scientific Advisory Board (bi-annual meetings):
- to lead reflection on the state of the art, methodological pillars and future prospects, whether fundamental in the heart of the field, at the interface with other disciplines, or in applications.
- At the request of the MACS Management Committee, the Scientific Advisory Board can issue opinions on the results of MACS Actions, make proposals for the creation of MACS Actions and suggest themes for MACS seminars.
- The Scientific Advisory Board is responsible for supervising the scientific programme of the SAGIP congress. The Scientific Advisory Board may also be asked by SAGIP to advise on the activities of the technical committees and their development.
- On the MACS steering committee (monthly meetings by videoconference) :
- participate in arbitration on the creation of MACS Actions and the organisation of MACS seminars;
- drafting and updating the GdR's outlooks ;
- monitoring the mapping of members teams ;
- preparing analysis and forward-looking documents for the CNRS.
